Robin Starr's resignation...

My friends,
A top Executive for the Richmond SPCA Robin Starr, who was at the forefront of Michael Vicks public persecution for animal abuse, has herself become an animal abuser by leaving her 16 year old blind and deaf special needs dog in her car for 4 hours which resulted in the animals death.

I feel Mrs. Starr should resign from her position as anyone who is this neglectful to animals should in no way be in charge of an animal rights organization. Below is the letter that I wrote to the Richmond SPCA. If you would like to voice your opinion to the Richmond SPCA as well please email them at info@richmondspca.org

Kind Regards,
Jen Brack

Hello,
I am an avid animal lover and was very saddened to hear about the death of Robin Starrs 16 year old special needs dog. I wholeheartedly agreed with Mrs. Starrs stance on the Michael Vick case but now I fear I question everything that she has ever said. How anyone in her position could neglect their animal in such a way is beyond me. I do not understand how we are supposed to support your organization when this is how your executives behave. If this had happened to anyone else the Richmond SPCA would be up in arms calling for the person to be punished. Why is it that she gets a free pass and isn't even being charged for this crime.

How anyone could be so neglectful as to leave their animal in a car so long that it dies is mind boggling to me. At one time this was an organization that I respected and supported but I can no longer do that as I feel Robin Starr is a hypocrite and an animal abuser. This special needs animal depended on her to provide a loving safe atmosphere and she failed that poor animal and let it die a cruel and painful death.

Shame on you Robin Starr and shame on the Richmond SPCA for being hypocritical not treating this situation as they normally would. I feel Robin Starr should step down from her position as she is no longer a person to look to when it comes to the subject of animals and animal cruelty.

I thank you for your time and hope to see a resolution to this matter.

Kind Regards,
Jennifer Brack

I've recorded a mix CD. It's called "Guilty Pleasures" cause it's all Dirty South crunk & Hyphy. That stuff is so cheese but I LOVE IT :)

I'm working on the intro now and it should be ready to go in a few days. First Mix I've done in awhile so I am super excited!

So I got it! I spoke with them today and everything is a go! As they will be supplying all gear for the tour they've asked me to put together my equipment wish list and they will go purchase it for the tour! Not that I get to keep it but it will be nice to have access to brand spanking new gear on tour so I will feel comfortable that there won't be to many techincal issues.

They are finishing up dancers auditions this week as well as purchasing the gear. Next week rehearsals will begin 3 days a week for dancers and then I will be there one day a week as well as spending time at home putting together the set for the show.

After 4 weeks of rehearsal it's off to California to film 2 videos and then on tour. As of yet no specific tour dates have been given to me as they are finalizing everything but it could be a minute that I'm gone. We talked about future endeavors as well. He is offering to put out a legit mix CD for me, my own radio show on CyberRadio.com (I think that was it..lol) as well as maybe pressing my own battle wax. I've always wanted to put out wax geared towards the females and he was interested in the idea.

I brought Hyder with me to the first meeting yesterday. I promised my mom I would as essentially this was just some guy who hit me up on MySpace and he could have been a creepy killer. Anyway, they liked him very much as well and they've offered possible production opportunitys to him. They are expanding their studio and said they are always looking for new producers. The guy even offered to bring Hyder with me on tour when we were gone for months at a time. I doubt it would work out but you never know. I mean he's got all his shit going on here.

Since i've been through this kind of shit twice before and both deals ended up doing nothing but turning my life upside down. This time I asked for a small fee upfront as a good faith sorta thing. I explained why and we agreed on a number we both felt comfortable with. I'm not about to give up a month of my time for nothing. Not to be a diva but I did that before and never again. They also agreed to my booking fee and everything on the road will be paid for and I will be given a perdeum.

I'm not going to even begin to think how a relationship is supposed to work being seperated for a length of time. I'm just going to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction I have right now  and hope this doesn't fall through somehow :)

Nice!

Met with the label and their artist today and i'll get the final answer on Monday or Tuesday but it looks great so far. We met at their studio and it was a very nice place, I was impressed. Melissa is very nice and Tom, her Producer and Label Owner, was cool. He's a pretty young guy but they seem to have all their shit together.

There would be about a month or month and a half worth of practice. They will have 4 dancers, 2 guys & 2 girls, the Dj, and Melissa. They seem really interested in me and i'm very interested in the project. No idea yet on a length of time for the tour but they said they will keep going as long as the opportunities are there, which they are. They will be filming 2 videos in Cali in the next month and want me involved in those as well.

So yeah it all looks really good and I will know more in a day or two. Keep your fingers crossed!!

So as always as soon as I make major plans something comes along to change my mind...lol. I was contacted by a record label, Broken Locker, they have a up and coming pop artist named Melissa Cohee who will be starting a promotional tour in about a month to push her debut CD. Well, they need a DJ for the tour and have contacted me.

I've checked everything out and it seems legit. She has a major deal and major sponsors. This girls got like a 4 million dollar deal and people scrambling to get to her. Could be the mext big thing! Her music is pretty good. She sounds like Christina Aguilera singing over dirty south kinda beats. She's being produced by the Terror Squad and Pitbull. I have to admit I am a Pitbull fan so that's kinda dope.

We have our final meeting on Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at that time I will know her tour schedule and will have a better idea of how long I would be gone. Not sure yet if it would be us on the road for awhile or bouncing back and forth doing spot dates. If everything goes well it has the potential to be VERY profitable.

As always in this business I take everything with a grain of salt as I've had 2 other offers like this over the years and both have fallen apart due to various reasons out of my control and I was pretty devastated.

Hyder and and I have discussed it at length as it will be an adjustment being away from each other f I do go out for a long period of time and he is supportive. I would miss him dearly but it's part of the business and would be a great experience for me and for my resume. Plus the amount of money I will possibly make is to much to turn down cause I will miss my boyfriend haha! I told him if it all goes as planned and I am gone for a minute that he can pick the vacation spot and we'll get reaquainted over the vacation of his choice when I get back :)

If things don't go the way I want on Sunday it's ok I have a shitload of projects going on here and will just follow through with Plan A (School, Record Store) so I will be ok.

I've made big decisions regarding the next year and enrolling in school was the first major step in accomplishing the goals I have set for the next year. I will garduate in exactly 2 years with a dual Music Business/Audio Production degrees. What used to be only certificate classes are now full degrees so I am happy about that.

I've begun working on a business plan for a Record Store of my own to be opened in Downtown Phoenix . Granted it won't just be a Record store, cause you can't survive off of just wax anymore, but a full urban lifestyle store if you will catering to the 4 elements of Hip Hop - DJing, Grafitti, MC's, and Bboys.

Aside from being able to buy records and ALL of the DJ related gear you will be able to purchase both mens and womens clothing/accesories, buy Graf supplies, take DJ lessons, buy DVDS, Magazines, & books geared towards DJs, Bboys, MC's, and Graf artists. I will also be purchasing a sound system to rent out for whatever occasion (since I'll have a degree in live sound I can run it myself!) and will be running my Mobile DJ Service out of the shop among many, many other things. Anyone been to Turntable lab in either NY or CA? Well, think that only on a slightly bigger scale.

I only need about $35,000 to get started MUCH less than I had originally thought but after all of my research I was pleasantly suprise. I have begun my business plan with the hopes of getting a business loan in the next 6 months and I have also been applying for grants available to women entreprenuers.

Expect me to disapear a bit over the next 10 months or so. I won't be accepting anymore rave bookings and will actually be bringing Shimmy to a close at the end of May. While everything is going well I don't have the time for 2 weeklies, a Cali monthly residency, school full time, and all the other shit going on.

It's all very much doable but I just gotta really buckle down over the next 10-12 months. That's not long at all.

Damn it's been forever since I have been here. I read my past entries and laughed my ass off. Its strange how things seem so important one minute and so silly after the fact.

My boyfriends snoring on the couch it's very cute and I love it!

I enrolled in school at MCC for the Fall Semester. I will be going for my Music Business degree as well as taking Live Sound and Studio Recording classes.

I'm actually taking 1 class in Summer school. That starts July 2nd. I figured a summer school class would be good to get back into the groove of going to school :)

Mental purification can only be achieved through the cultivation of ethical conduct.

Unwholesome actions lead to unsound states of mind, while wholesome actions lead to sound states of mind.

The same type of energy that fuels desire, envy, aggression, and violence can on the other side fuel self-discipline, honesty, benevolence, and kindness.

Friends,

I’m writing to ask for your help with a project that’s been my labor of love for the last three years. I’m sure you’ve already heard about SHEJAY. If you haven’t, http://www.shejay.net is an online magazine and global network that promotes female DJs, vocalists and producers.

Since our launch in December 2002, we've grown from 50 to over 400 international women who seek support via the SHEJAY online community. We’ve reached across continents by spreading the music we love, hosting successful events, helped artists get exposure, and subsequently...find gigs.

SHEJAY has also left quite an impact on the music community. I’ve received so much positive feedback from the music industry, club community and successful artists, among others. When out promoting SHEJAY at various events, I am blown away by the number of individuals who tell me they’ve already visited the site, believe in our mission, or say they want to work with us.

As Shejay continues to grow, so does the need to improve our resources. We're non-profit and exist solely for the artists, and all development is presently funded out-of-pocket. So we’re asking for donations from our network of friends and families who believe in what we are doing, and want to support us.

No amount is too small, even a fiver from each of our friends will move mountains for us. You can make a secure online donation using your credit card by visiting the following link, then selecting the "Make a Donation" box : http://www.shejay.net/formmail/donations_form.htm.

Your contribution will go towards an improved website and other necessary resources we require as we continue to grow. With a little help from our friends, we can make small steps to achieving big goals AND become self-sustaining.

For those that contribute $20 or more, we’ll send you a mixed CD composed by a SHEJAY artist. We'll also place the names of all contributors on the website as one of our independent supporters.

We hope that you will see the potential of our cause, and will continue to watch it grow.

Many thanks...
